History and Philosophy
Titan was built from the ground up as a production environment which does not need constant handholding. It is common for us to see continuous uptime data from our customers measured in months and years. The product is extraordinarily stable and is built on the rock solid Unix family of operating systems.
A ERP system which requires a full-time staff simply to keep it running isn't very cost-effective. We believe an ERP system should support the enterprise and its strategy. Otherwise, why bother?
The Titan interface utilizes the hassle-free terminal or character structure. This allows the same "look and feel" whether you are working on a shop floor, scanning devices, or part of the office staff. Time and again we find the character interface to be the most cost-effective method of data entry. In terms of development, deployment, consistency, maintenance, and portability, it wins hands-down. Titan also has the advantage of not requiring a complex Windows environment.
Modifications? Are they possible?
Contrary to the current trend, we believe that enterprise software should be modified. Why? It is simple, really. A good many of the procedures in any company are really no different than anyone else. With this being the case, why develop and maintain software to fit every conceivable niche? This is one reason why most other enterprise applications suffer in terms of performance and complexity. The phrase we use for this is "feature bloat." As an example, how many different ways are there to receive a customer's payment? There are very few. So, why manage software which attempts to do such a simple act in 100 different ways? Our philosophy is that the enterprise application ought to mirror the enterprise. What we mean is this: what the company does well and does uniquely, the enterprise software ought to be tailored to match. In so doing, the strategy of the organization is effectively executed by the enterprise application instead of being stifled by it.
Your company is unique. What you do well should be incorporated within the system. It is as simple as that.
Many people object to this thinking because, at some point in the past, they had an application with many modifications and they became trapped within their own system. We've anticipated this very scenario. Titan was designed so that modifications are easy to implement and manage. After your staff is trained (or you utilize outside work), our tools allow each developer to see the effect of any change before it is deployed.
